The Barry Martin Foundation is a not for profit organisation created in memory of Barry Martin, a sensational father, husband,  friend, and outstanding Scottish Firefighter.

On Monday 23rd January 2023, Barry and three colleagues attended a fire at the former Jenners building in Edinburgh. Barry was critically injured, and he died four days later on Friday 27th January 2023.

How the world continues to turn, we do not know. And every day, we take a deep breath, we be thankful for Barrys love and lessons, and we get up to face the day.

We have the responsibilty to carry Barry out into this world. Just as he carried us.

The Foundation will be established based on the lessons learned by the widow and sons of Barry, who have navigated their trauma journey with deliberate and conscientious steps, identifying as they manouver, the areas that require intervention.

The Barry Martin Foundation is about the right people, the right resources, and the right time. It is about delivery. It is about standards of excellence. It is about outstanding training, resilience building, awareness, compassion, integrity, and safe guarding.

It is about the lessons we have learned in the face of adversity from others.

And how we will empower the communities close to Barry's heart, and teach those lessons to others as they navigate their trauma.
