NAME YOUR BRAVE
WHO IS YOUR BRAVE?
Bravery comes in many forms. It can be courage in the face of extraordinary circumstances, strength through the hardest of times, or simply being there when someone needs you the most.
We want to hear about the people who inspire you. Simply visit the campaign on Facebook and comment on our Name Your Brave campaign post, or submit your nomination privately on our website. The name of your Brave may feature in the next edition of our book, and if so they - or where appropriate, their family - will also receive a signed copy by Oliver and Daniel.
NOMINATIONS CLOSE AT 8PM ON SUNDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2026
NAME YOUR BRAVE
When the first edition of Barry the Brave launched in July 2026, every child who received a copy was invited to do something very personal: Name their Brave.
Barry is Oliver and Daniel's Brave. But one of the messages at the heart of Barry the Brave is that anyone can be brave.
Your Brave might be someone you love.
Someone you miss.
Someone who has helped you.
Someone who inspires you.
Or your Brave might even be you.
Because being brave doesn't mean never crying or never feeling sad. Sometimes, being brave simply means getting through one day at a time.
Every copy of Barry the Brave includes a page where a child can write, draw, colour or decorate their own Brave — making that part of the book completely their own.
FROM THE BOOK TO SOMETHING BIGGER
The response to the first edition of Barry the Brave has been extraordinary and, less than three months later, we are already preparing Edition Two.
This time, we want to take Name Your Brave beyond the pages of the book.
Oliver and Daniel named three people in the first edition in recognition of the meaningful place those people hold in their lives.
Now we are inviting you to tell us who your Brave is.
Members of the public can nominate someone they would like to see recognised as a Brave. A selection of those names will be chosen to appear in Edition Two of Barry the Brave.
Each person selected will receive a copy of Edition Two signed by Oliver and Daniel. Where the person being honoured has died, we will arrange for their signed copy to be given to their family or next of kin.
OUR BRAVES
And we don't want their stories to end with a name printed in a book.
Those selected for Edition Two will also be invited, if they wish, to tell us the story of their Brave.
With permission, those stories — and, where appropriate, photographs — will become part of Our Braves here on The Barry Martin Foundation website.
Over time, we hope this will become a place to recognise and remember people whose bravery has meant something to somebody else.
HOW TO NAME YOUR BRAVE
Nominations for Name Your Brave are open until 8pm on Sunday 8 November 2026.
Tell us who your Brave is and why.
Your Brave might be someone you love, someone you miss, someone who has helped or inspired you — or your Brave might even be you.
A selection of Braves will be chosen to have their names included in Edition Two of Barry the Brave.
